Presentation
In the heart of Namur, a few steps from Place Saint-Aubain, Les Bateliers brings together the two municipal museums, the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Decorative Arts , on an exceptional site combining 18th century mansion , 19th century chapel century and contemporary gallery.
This museum center has several educational rooms and an auditorium. A restaurant and a shop will soon be completed.
A veritable cultural island , it connects the Félicien Rops provincial museum, the Maison de la Poésie (Poetry centre) and the Maison du Conte (Storytelling centre) via semi-public gardens which house temporary exhibitions and permanent works: the poem chairs by the Quebec sculptor Michel Goulet, the fresco by Tamar Kasparian as well as the miniature sculptures of the Spanish artist Isaac Cordal, which are part of an urban route to be discovered as part of Namur Street Art Cities .
Following the recommendations of Namur Confluent Culture , the Bateliers rely on a diversified cultural offer . Throughout the year, many events take over the premises such as the Chambers with Views biennial, Namur in May, the Artistic Professions Days, the Music Festival, the Heritage Days, the International Francophone Film Festival or the KIKK Festival.
The Chapel and the various spaces of the two museums regularly host classical music concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions, parades, artistic workshops, not to mention the many filmings of shows, television series and films, including "Les Visiteurs 3 “, “The young Karl Marx”, “The crazy story of Max and Leon”, “The way to happiness” and the series “De Bende van Jan de Lichte”.
