"The international Carnival and Mask Museum – an unforgettable journey through de world’s masquerades
In November 2003 UNESCO proclaimed the carnival of Binche and its famous Gilles as Masterpiece of the oral and intangible Heritage of Humanity. The Mask Museum of Binche
presents in a lively manner the preparation and the order of events of this traditional festival.
A second itinerary leading through the collections of the Museum shows dozens of masks and disguises from the different regions of Europe and invites you to discover the masquerades which, both in the country and in town, are part of the lives of people during winter and spring.
A third itinerary deals with non-European masking traditions, that is those of America, Black Africa, Asia and Oceania.
The Museum organises temporary exhibition on a regular basis."
